The mission of the Friends of the South Philadelphia Library is to expand the capacity of the South Philadelphia Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia to meet the needs of our community through fundraising, volunteering, outreach and advocacy

Who We Are
About Us
We are the Friends of the South Philadelphia Library - an active group of community members striving to help the South Philadelphia Branch meet its most immediate needs. We do this by partnering with the staff, fundraising, volunteering for library service opportunities, and increasing awareness of the Library’s resources and needs.
What We Do
Fundraising
City funding covers only a fraction of the library’s programming budget. Our fundraising helps to cover the remaining costs of the programs hosted at the South Philadelphia Branch:English Conversation Circle

LEAP After School Homework Help
Beginners ESL Class

What We Do
Volunteering
We not only raise funds for the programs at the South Philadelphia Branch: we also show up and make them happen. Whether it’s a hygiene kit packing party or sitting down for conversations with neighbors in the English conversation circle, the programs at our branch are fantastic ways to participate in our community

We work with the Citywide Friends Planning Committee to advocate for the resources the Free Library system needs
